Not bad, not good yet.

That was a really ambitious effort, it took me by surprise. However, it's a little over-ambitious. You're attempting techniques and styles that are hard to emulate without the right equipment and technology. The end result sounds amateurish and sloppy. When listening to your favorite performers and artists, bear in mind that most of the music you hear doesn't find its way to your ears until it has been produced and mastered to near-perfection. That, unfortunately, is why your music can't sound like theirs. Don't let that discourage you, though.

The song itself was a little tedious and hard to listen to. There's potential here that is probably not being used the most effectively on something like this. If you tried your hand at something less complex and worried less about sounding like something you're not, you might find that you're happier with your output.

CRASHAKEZULA81 responds:

Thank you for taking the time to give a thought out review. I really appericiate your words and will take them to heart. We may have gotten a little over ambitious, and we are still new to mixing in a sence. We have better equipment coming in, it sounds a lot better live honestly.

We didn't want to over use potential, as far as complicated riffs etc, as this is only the first part in the saga we wanted to just give people a taste, and not the full amount just yet, so because of this a lot of the song was cut. Which may have not been the best way to go about it, but it's all still a working progress. I wanted to post it here to get feedback on our rough copies before we went ahead and paid for studio time, ya know?

Once again, thank you very much for taking the time to review, and I look forword to hearing from you again in the future on our later installments.

Today is a Sunday

I woke up at 4:40 in the afternoon, feeling crusty and withered. It's interesting to me, though, that this song is your Sunday. My Sunday song would be so much more dour and mournful.

whitesymphonia responds:

lol, well my sundays are days when I actually have free time to do stuff, so it's happy for me :) Ofc, I'm tired when i first wake up, but then I'm like, "today's the day I have loads of free time" so then I get more awake :) Dour and mournful would be my mondays, I hate mondays :)

I like it

It reminds me of a loop you might hear in an old point-and-click adventure game.

This is my critique

Peter Gabriel is for old women and effeminate southern boys. In other news, this is a very charming arrangement and a well-made recording. I was beginning to think you'd never upload anything here ever again.

I am very surprised

that no one else has reviewed this. It's pretty great, for what it is. I'll tell you, though, you should start exploring something else. You've really taken this style to its limit and beyond. Good on you for that, but I think you're capable of even more.

Stalagmite responds:

i have started a new lease on life... likely, everything will change now.

thank you :) i will explore more things... i really havent perfected the art of accapella yet though... i have to many ideas ^ ^

Pretty brilliant.

It's funny that you would make a song like this. Just recently I was thinking about how a certain guitar riff in Beat It sounds like a bar from Pop Goes the Weasel.

Stalagmite responds:

hehe! yes you can put anysong to any other really.. so long as they follow a similar theme of minor or major chords :D its super fn to experiment! HAVE A GO dewd! :D

Surprisingly enjoyable.

Typically I find this sort of music to be soulless or devoid of any kind of real soul, given the very nature of what it is. This track, however, felt sort of alive and organic in its arrangement and instrument selection. Plus, it's a very famliar tune, used in a unique and pleasant way here. Nice work on this one.

Box-Killa responds:

Yeah, especially the acoustic guitar half way, it sorta stays ambientish but has a nice hit to it.

I think because it has sort of a lively kinda pad, it makes it seem "organic" and "alive"

Thanks for the review :D

This is very impressive.

I really love this, I don't even know why. The melody is pretty nice, musically I find this very pleasant and agreeable. The subject matter is very Stalagmitesque too, so I cannot complain about that.

Deceptive.

Listening to this, at first I was wondering why it was so Futuramy, but then it turned into a pretty interesting and clever rendition of 19-2000. The variety of sounds you use to create these tracks is quite dynamic and unique, but the style is always distinctly yours. I like these, however I have always been more impressed by your piano savant status than anything else.

Stalagmite responds:

hehe thats very kind of you age! :D i sure think this is one of my best, and its always nice to get a real review from you :D you truly are awesome :) i should go on msn once and a while. i will soon, so i can speak to you again :)
thanks for the review man :D
